This government takes the role of Auckland in New Zealand's economy and society seriously.
Auckland is a key cog in New Zealand's economic machine, it is a wonderful city infused with the cultures of its Pacific-rim location, and it has a young population that we need to ensure is well skilled and capable of meeting the needs of a vibrant city economy.
This role was conceived to address effectively the particular problems Auckland faces, largely in terms of infrastructure and population growth. It means lots of behind-the-scenes meetings and co-ordination, and providing a positive liaison between local and central government. My job is to work with Auckland's seven local councils, the regional council, Infrastructure Auckland and other major organisations to make sure that what they're doing separately is good for Auckland as a whole.
On this page you can find a number of links to the councils and public organisations of Auckland city. I will also be updating you on Government initiatives that benefit Auckland.
