Parliament |
|
| Parliament has met on its present site in Wellington since 1865.
Over those 132 years, the buildings have been added to and some have been lost through fire. However, the spirit of democracy has been maintained through the decades. The debating chamber has rung with historic speeches and argument as New Zealand develops and evolves as a nation. Wars have been declared, wrongs righted and power won and lost. Parliament offers a wide range of tours and educational resources. Phone (04) 471 9999 and ask for the education officer. |
