The MPs' activities are reported on by a body called the Press Gallery. This is staffed by accredited journalists representing the mainstream
newspapers, radio networks and television broadcasters.
However, rather than wait in hope that achievements and messages will be carried by the media, MPs employ press officers to help them put out information.
Communicating complex ideas and theories is a skilled job. Most press secretaries around Parliament have extensive backgrounds in daily journalism.
As part of the Youth Parliament, youth MPs will enlist the aid of youth press officers.
