Search Hon Deborah Morris, elected as a list Member of Parliament in 1996, was appointed Minister of Youth Affairs on the formation of the New Zealand First - National Coalition Government. At that time she was also appointed Associate Minister for the Environment and Associate Minister of Accident Rehabilitation and Compensation Insurance.

Ms Morris has the privilege of being the youngest ever Minister in New Zealand.

Prior to being elected, Ms Morris was employed as a Researcher in New Zealand First's Parliamentary Research Unit.

Ms Morris graduated in 1994 with a Bachelor of Arts in Politics from Victoria University in Wellington.

While at University Ms Morris was President of the Victoria University Branch of the Electoral Reform Coalition.

Previous employment experience includes Proof-reading for Wellington Newspapers and work in the hospitality, banking and insurance industries.

Ms Morris and her partner, Chris Travers, plan to marry in 1998. They both live in Wellington. Ms Morris was born on 9th August 1970.

Ms Morris enjoys cooking, aerobics, socialising and swimming.
