Statement Of Values
Our statement of values expresses the Police role, professionalism and the importance we place on our staff.
The New Zealand Police will:
MAINTAIN THE HIGHEST LEVEL OF INTEGRITY AND PROFESSIONALISM;
- RESPECT INDIVIDUAL RIGHTS AND FREEDOMS;
- CONSULT WITH, AND BE RESPONSIVE TO, THE NEEDS OF THE COMMUNITY;
- UPHOLD THE RULE OF LAW;
- CONSULT WITH, AND BE RESPONSIVE TO, THE NEEDS, WELFARE AND ASPIRATIONS OF ALL POLICE STAFF;
- BE CULTURALLY SENSITIVE.
The critical areas of Policing for the next five years have been
identified and stated as strategic goals.STRATEGIC GOALS
- TO REDUCE THE INCIDENCE AND EFFECTS OF CRIME;
- TO PROTECT PROPERTY, ENHANCE PUBLIC SAFETY AND MAINTAIN LAW AND ORDER;
- TO IMPROVE THE DETECTION AND APPREHENSION OF OFFENDERS;
- TO IMPROVE THE SAFE AND EFFICIENT USE OF ROADS;
- TO IMPLEMENT AND MAINTAIN COMMUNITY ORIENTATED POLICING;
- TO STRENGTHEN PUBLIC CONFIDENCE AND SATISFACTION WITH POLICE SERVICES;
- TO ACHIEVE EXCELLENCE AND EQUITY IN THE MANAGEMENT OF OUR PEOPLE AND RESOURCES.
These goals should be viewed in terms of desirable outcomes
to be worked towards through a range of strategies.
