Our statement of values expresses the Police role, professionalism and the importance we place on our staff.

The New Zealand Police will:

Strategic Goals

The critical areas of Policing for the next five years have been
identified and stated as strategic goals.

STRATEGIC GOALS

  • TO REDUCE THE INCIDENCE AND EFFECTS OF CRIME;
  • TO PROTECT PROPERTY, ENHANCE PUBLIC SAFETY AND MAINTAIN LAW AND ORDER;
  • TO IMPROVE THE DETECTION AND APPREHENSION OF OFFENDERS;
  • TO IMPROVE THE SAFE AND EFFICIENT USE OF ROADS;
  • TO IMPLEMENT AND MAINTAIN COMMUNITY ORIENTATED POLICING;
  • TO STRENGTHEN PUBLIC CONFIDENCE AND SATISFACTION WITH POLICE SERVICES;
  • TO ACHIEVE EXCELLENCE AND EQUITY IN THE MANAGEMENT OF OUR PEOPLE AND RESOURCES.

These goals should be viewed in terms of desirable outcomes
to be worked towards through a range of strategies.
