New Judge for the Environment Court
The Minister of Justice, Hon D.A.M. Graham, today announced the appointment of Nelson Barrister and Solicitor Jonathan Robin Jackson as a District Court Judge and an Environment Court Judge.
Judge Jackson will be sworn in at the Nelson District Court next month and will sit in the Environment Court (formerly the Planning Tribunal). He will be based in Auckland.
Judge Jackson was admitted to the Bar in 1978 and practised in Christchurch for one year before moving to Nelson where he is now a partner in a law firm. He has extensive experience in civil litigation and resource management work.
He is a Member of the Resource Management Law Association and an Associate of the Arbitrators' and Mediators' Institute of NZ. He is a former Member of the Nelson District Law Society Committee.
Mr Graham has also announced the appointment of Judge John Treadwell as an Alternate Environment Court Judge.
Judge Treadwell retires as an Environment Court Judge on 4 October and his new two-year appointment begins on 7 October.
